LISTEN Community Services is a not-for-profit organization committed to providing vital services to people in need throughout the Upper Valley. In operation since 1972, LISTEN now operates multiple thrift stores, the proceeds from which are used to operate various community programming. These programs include community dinners, a food pantry, heating and housing assistance, summer camp scholarships, and holiday gift baskets.

The economic fallout of the COVID-19 crisis has greatly affected the most vulnerable populations. LISTEN reports that their Lebanon, NH food pantry is busier than ever before. Fully one-third of the people they are serving had never visited the pantry before April 2020. In addition, the demand for LISTEN community dinners has doubled. LISTEN has continued to offer their services through the COVID-19 crisis, modifying operations as needed. They now serve 200 take-out meals, 6 nights a week.

In recognition of the valuable work which LISTEN Community Services is carrying out in the Upper Valley, the Bio X Cell Fund has made a gift to their Housing Helpers program. This program provides small grants for housing and rental assistance. It is our intention that this gift will help those suffering homelessness or home insecurity in our region.

The programs provided by LISTEN have always been critical. During this time of crisis, they are more necessary than ever before.
